I did a plein air study of this painting on a cold November morning at Baldhead Island, coastal North Carolina. This studio piece shows the tidal pools among the dunes of a beach I call Gorilla Beach (it goes way back!). The pools completely disappeared into the sand after 2 hours of painting outdoors!
